Alpha is for everyone! It’s especially geared to:

  • People interested in investigating Christianity.
  • Newcomers to the church.
  • New Christians.
  • Couples preparing for marriage.
  • Christians who want to brush up on the basics.

What Happens at Alpha?

There is a series of talks on topics such as:

  • Who is Jesus?
The whole weight of Jesus' teaching, His works, His character, His fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy, and His conquest of death lend the strongest possible support to Jesus' own consciousness of being a man whose identity was God.

Again the high priest asked him, "Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?" "I am," said Jesus. "And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven." — Mark 14:61-62
    • What did He say about Himself?
    • What evidence is there to support what He said?
  • Why did Jesus die?
If we are honest, we would all have to admit that we do things which we know are wrong. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. — Romans 6:23
    • The Problem
    • The Solution
    • The Result
  • How Can I Be Sure of My Faith?

This life is not the end; there is life beyond the grave. History is not meaningless or cyclical; it is moving toward a glorious climax.

He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. — 1 John 5:12-13

    • The Word of God
    • The work of Jesus
    • The witness of the Spirit
  • Why and how should I read the Bible?
The Bible is alive, it speaks to me; it has feet, it runs after me; it has hands, it lays hold of me."
    — Martin Luther

"...Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God."
    — Matthew 4:4
    • God has spoken: Revelation
    • God speaks: Relationship
  • Why and How Do I Pray?
Prayer is at the heart of Christianity, because at the heart of Christianity is a relationship with God.

Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. — 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
    • What is prayer?
    • Why pray?
    • Does God always answer prayer?
    • How do we pray?
  • What about the Holy Spirit?
  • How can I overcome evil?
  • Why and how should I tell others?
  • Does God heal today?
  • What about the church?

After each talk there is a small-group time for everyone to discuss any questions or issues they have.  This gives an opportunity to get to know each other and to learn together.
